Ark Team Creates, Organizes New Kansas Attraction

“This is going to be huge. Think All School’s Day but for four days and all of the visitors are putting money into small businesses and residents’ pockets in McPherson,” says Ben Coffey, owner and founder of both The Ark and the new Kansas event, the HWY 56 Sales Scramble.

Towns between Great Bend, KS, and Marion, KS, are each participating in this 100 miles of garage sales and folks supporting mom-and-pop restaurants, hotels, gas stations, and other ancillary services to accommodate the influx of traffic.

Scheduled for the last weekend in April, the Ark’s leadership team is firing on all cylinders and working additional hours to ensure the event’s success.

There are other related events through Kansas, including ones like the HWY 36 Treasure Hunt. Coffey and family have been participating in other highway sales events and thought it was about time for someone to create one for HWY 56.

“We have hopes of growing this further and further out, geographically speaking, over the years. For now, the 100 miles is keeping us busy,” said Coffey.

Folks who want to advertise their garage sale or purchase a business advertisement can do so by visiting www.hwy56sales.com, calling The Ark at 620-718-2036, or stopping in at The Ark.

“We are especially appreciate of the McPherson sponsors, including Peoples Bank and Trust, the McPherson Convention & Visitors Bureau, and McPherson Main Street.,” said Coffey. “In several other towns, the cities or the Chambers of Commerce are also helping to make this event possible. We couldn’t do this without their support!”
